Metal Fabrication Program

Welcome to our Metal Fabrication Program, a dynamic and practical course that has quickly become one of our most popular offerings since its introduction in September 2022. This program is designed to teach young enthusiasts the fundamentals of metalwork, with a special focus on welding, layout basics, and real-world applications of math using a tape measure.

Participants start by learning how to accurately use a tape measure and apply basic mathematical concepts to calculate and prepare materials for fabrication. The course provides hands-on experience with a variety of essential tools that are both accessible and fundamental for any budding metalworker, including MIG and Stick welders, plasma cutters, and oxy-acetylene torches. Students also become proficient with angle grinders, metal cutting saws, and various marking and measuring tools like analog and digital angle finders and scribes.

Safety training is integral to our program, ensuring all participants know how to properly use helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection. Throughout the course, students work on creating their own metal projects from conception to completion. This culminates in a unique opportunity where participants can take their finished projects to the El Dorado County Fair to be judged. Achieving best in class in their category not only brings recognition but also the exciting chance to auction off their project.

This comprehensive program is designed to not only equip students with valuable metal fabrication skills but also to inspire creativity and confidence in their ability to handle and shape materials, preparing them for successful futures in any technical or engineering fields they might pursue.
